Abstract
Suicide has been the top of Korean mental health policy agenda for the past decade. Despite implementation various anti-suicide measures, suicide rate of Korea are still the highest among OECD member countries. The present study explored evidences to design effective messages for suicide prevention with a special focus on suicidal attempters in Korea. Using data from KGSS(2009) structural equation model was proposed to test mediating roles of attitudes toward suicide between previous suicidal attempts and subsequent risk of suicide. Based on the results, we argue that communication strategies to design and deliver inoculation messages should be utilized for suicide prevention for the vulnerable population.
